I picked up a refurbished Microsoft Surface Pro 128GB earlier this month, and I'm very pleased with this amazing little device. Since this little wonder runs full Windows 8.1, I've installed Photoshop and Manga Studio 5 along with a few other drawing / modeling programs and it has run it all with ease. I've even done some testing with Steam's "In Home Streaming" to play Borderlands 2, which ran flawlessly @ 720p. It has a few quirks, like iffy stylus accuracy in the corners of the screen that can make using PS menu a little tricky, and the battery life could be a tad better, but overall I'm constantly being surprised at what this Surface Pro can do. Just being able to doodle in Manga Studio at the park while my kids run around and play makes it all worth it.
My weekly thrift store adventure brings yet another fine surprise. An almost brand new box of Prismacolor pencils for a mere $2.99. Only 5 of the 48 pencils were even sharpened. Color me excited. Woo!
Does anyone know how old these are? Can't seem to find another box like it.
Here's a little astronaut fellow that started off as a quick scribble on some paper, that was then fleshed out with a micron + pentel brush pen, and colored in photoshop. I've started on the 30 Day Drawing Challenge that The Autumn Society posted a while back, and this happens to be day 4's topic... "Favorite Place".
I've been fascinated with space for the past couple of months ever since my kids were gifted an old telescope sometime last year. Unfortunately they lost interest after a week or two, but I've been dragging the telescope out every chance I can get. Braving the cold winter nights just to get a glimpse of Jupiter. Swatting bugs away in the warm spring nights to take in Saturn. I even ended up buying and old DSLR just to have a go at some astrophotography. (Still lots to learn)
So right now, Space is definitely my favorite place. :)
