Back to School
A little something for Eatpoo again for the challenge titled "Back to School" :
Way way back in the 1980's my family lived in the land down under, Australia, and loved it. So, when my parents told us their plan to move back to Czechoslovakia we were very much against the idea. We were too accustomed to the marvels of modern life, such as rich chocolatey cereal, Saturday morning cartoons, and Star Wars action figures. All of which we later came to find were non-existant in the dark commie depths of Czechoslovakia.
It was during one of our daily "We don't want to go to Czechoslovakia!" tantrums, when my mum burst out with "In Czechoslovakia kids ride to School in Helicopters!"
My brother and I stopped. We looked at eachother...and YAY!

In a blink of an eye ,our minds were made up. Czechoslovakia, you radical land of helicopters, oh how we love you!
Of course upon arrival, we soon found out our mum had lied to us about the entire thing.
There were no helicopters to wizz happy students off to school. Only smelly old buses and trams filled with fat old ladies. :(

Dragonfly
Went out back to pick some black berries and met a friendly dragonfly. It was kind enough to hang around while I took a few photos...and ate berries. mmm.

Tulip McSkullington
For the past couple of days I've been sketching down some ideas in an attempt to make a t-shirt design submission for threadless.com... one thing lead to another and I came up with "Tulip McSkullington & Friend".
Still feel it's missing something so I've only submitted it as a "critique" for now.
Not quite sure, but I think I'm liking the first root-skull picture better. Perhaps with muted colors from the 2nd pic...hmmmmm. Almost there. © Martin Corba 2007

Edit: Played around with the whole eeeevil roots idea some more...

Brainsssss!
Yeah, I'm getting a little tired of just making heads. Weird heads. I'm going to try and pick up some armature wire this weekend and add some arms or *GASP!* ... possibly a whole entire body. For now though.... ZOOOOMBIIIIEEE!

I lost it.... in a volcano.
Tonight's super sculpey practice session turned into none other than Dr. Zoidberg. "Did you see me escaping?, I was all like *Woop-Woop-Woop-Woop-Woop" © Martin Corba 2007
This is Madness!
Madness I say! What I really want to know is how on earth does the Executioner fella from "300" use the bathroom. I mean, with knives and little nubby hands and all it'd be either very very painfull, or impossible. I just don't know. Maybe he just squats. *shrugs*

Super Sculpey
Picked up two lovely pounds of super sculpey the other day, but forgot I had left my tools behind in Europe many, many, many years ago. Instead of doing things the old fashioned way and buying a new set of sculpting tools, I instead went into MacGyver mode and fashioned some new ones out of paperclips, chopsticks and a twisty tie from a loaf of bread. Really. A couple minutes and two BB's later. A quicky demon... thingy... guy. Grr! Also had a go at making a Mcbess-ey looking character... and failed.
I need some calipers. *starts humming MacGyver theme* © Martin Corba 2007

Fairly Odd Cosmo
I was watching "The Fairly OddParents" with my son yesterday, which just so happens to be one of the greatest cartoons ever. While we watched, I sketched. While I sketched, we watched. Later today I played around with one of the cosmo scribbles and hey presto...

I'm famous on teh internets!
My wifey was browsing one of her boring girly forums when she came upon one of the greatest things to happen to the internet since..that..last greatest thing everybody was raving about that one time. I'm talking about Caturday! Turns out somebody out there used one of my photos to make this:
I'm the dashing young lad closest to the ferocious kitty cat. ^_^ My 15 mins of fame is over. Yar.
Newest weekly doodle
For this week the mighty apedog overlords decided on the theme "Hanna-Barbera". So after some pondering I decided on Rosey from The Jetsons...'cos Rosey got back!

I've got worms!
My brother goes by the name of "soupworm". I have no idea why. When asked if I could come up with a few logo ideas / sketches for him, I said "meh." and promptly made shoo-ing motions with my hands much like the actions of Dr Hubert J. Farnsworth of Futurama fame. But after some alone time with trusty ol' opencanvas I made a few quicky worms after all.
